MBC Awards 2007: The awards night was held on the 15th December, at the Northern tennis club. Luis getting his second Eagles' double of batting champ and MVP, while Ed got his first double of A's MVP and most improved player, Yang became the second player to add an A's batting champ to his Eagles batting champ award (from 2003). Senior League 2007: The last league matches played were on the 25/26th August, as the Eagles (17:5) needing to make up games first travelled to Birmingham on Saturday for a postponed DH, which they evetually won 12-7 and 10-9. On Sunday was the Manchester derby with the A's and Eagles meeting for the first time in 2007. The A's started well taking a 2-0 lead into the 3rd and the game was still level mid way through the 5th, but eventually the Eagles pressure lead to them finishing strongly to record a 13-3 win. However the Eagles later found out that despite their 3 wins a double by Menwith (18:4) over Liverpool (19:4) meant the Eagles have to settle for 3rd in the NNL one place outside the NL Final 4 qualification. The A's (11:10) met their pre-season objective of a 500 record, but finshed behind a strong Humber (18:3) team also one place away from the Division 1 Final 4 qualification.

"I hadn't played part of the season, and about a month back I woke up at three in the morning and thought "I wanna play ball!". So I came back to it. The coach (Nelson Setzer) said we have maybe the best team in the UK, but we don't have the finances to be in the Rawlings National League. It would have been nice to play those guys too and see if he was right". In the Premier Division semi-finals, played on Saturday, Cambridge Monarchs outlasted the Liverpool Trojans 9-7 in a tense game that ended in controversy; but Menwith Hill Patriots pounded the Oxford Kings 23-8 for an easy passage to the final. 2/09/02

Manchester Leisure Award £5k for Ground Development: Following a number of meetings with Manchester City Council, MBC have secured another phase of our ground development plan. Manchester Leisure awarded a budget of £5000 to be spent on our field for a number of improvements. Thanks to some professional presentations and the support of our contact Graham Whightman, MBC will be able to enjoy additional storage, a batting cage, bull pen, foul poles on both diamonds, a boundary fence for the senior diamond and new dugout shelters. The existing team benches will transfer to the junior field. These improvements will make MBC one of the best facilities in the country and will enable continued growth of our club at all levels. We will need your help to maintain these facilities and hope that you can lend a hand to help customize once in place. 09/01/02
