Youth Baseball in Manchester
Junior Tournament 2002
As part of the Queens Golden Jubilee and Commonwealth Games celebrations MBC hosted the Manchester Open Youth Baseball Tournament on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July, in Association with Frubes. The venue was Allen Field, home of MBC; a two acre site with two diamonds, backstops and mounds, complete with benches dug outs and pitching / batting cage.
Tournament Mini Review
Manchester Open: The weekend of the 20/21 July was the Manchester Open junior tournament. The Saturday under 16s tournament saw the Saints win after a home run contest decided the winner because of a 3-way tie between Manchester, Preston and Halton. MBC's William Rubiano hitting a 3rd home run in the sudden death play off v Preston to seal the Saints victory. Sunday saw MBC pick up two more trophies, winning the under 14s and T-ball tournaments.
